Richard Cummins attended City College of New York and graduated from Fordham University School of Law, practicing in New York City for several years before moving to Aspen, Colorado and opening his office in 1976, where he has been in practice since that time, earning the confidence and respect of friends, neighbors, and members of the lay and legal community.

During his years of practice, he has come to represent an extensive and diverse base of clients in diverse matters involving criminal law.

He has been recognized for volunteer work, lending his skills to people otherwise unable to afford legal representation, has volunteered in numerous community endeavors, including service on the Pitkin County Planning and Zoning Commission, and continues an active law practice with his partner Beth Krulewitch.

He is also licensed to practice in various federal district courts in New York and Colorado as well as the United States Tax Court.
